Kathryn Butler

Kathryn is a patent attorney with a technical background predominantly in chemistry. She has experience of handling a wide range of technology including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food products, petrochemicals and medical devices. Kathryn has experience of handling cases for a wide range of clients including SMEs, multinationals and universities.

Kathryn read Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, graduating in 1999 with a First, and obtained a PhD in 2003 in medicinal chemistry from the University of Manchester (in collaboration with the Paterson Institute at Christie's hospital). Her PhD involved the isolation and synthesis of novel anticancer agents from natural products. She obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London, passing with distinction.

Kathryn entered the patent profession in 2002, passing her UK examinations by 2006, and has worked previously for two well known patent firms.

Kathryn is married with two young children.
