Under a new initiative, it will be possible to fast-track UK patent applications relating to Green inventions which have an environmental benefit. It could take just nine months to get a patent granted under the 'Green Channel' scheme, in comparison with more usual grant times of 2 to 3 years or even more. There are no additional official fees for using the Green Channel scheme.
