The role
We are currently looking for an ambitious, client-oriented patent attorney to drive the continued growth of our successful Cardiff office. The role will involve patent and design prosecution work for both UK and foreign clients, across a spectrum of technologies, and would suit an engineer or physicist.
The successful candidate will be capable of working with considerable autonomy, although mentoring to enable them to settle into the role quickly, and to develop the skills needed to progress in the profession will be available, as required. The role, when fully evolved, will encompass the full range of patent activities including drafting, filing and prosecution of European and other foreign patent applications, Oppositions and Appeals before the EPO, as well as UK litigation.
You will offer clear and practical no-nonsense professional advice to the Firm's clients, and will be expected to foster effective working relationships with the relevant personnel within client companies. Managing your own portfolio of clients, the workload will be varied and busy and your responsibility and client base will grow as the role develops.

You will be provided with opportunities to develop new clients and you will also be expected to be involved with different aspects of business management and business development such as technical seminars, presentations, business fairs and working groups.

This new position is available immediately and will be based primarily in our Cardiff office, although some working at our Cheltenham premises will be required from time to time, especially during the first few months. The competitive starting salary will depend on qualifications and experience, and will be discussed and agreed according to the skills and competence of the successful candidate. Benefits include a generous holiday entitlement and bonus scheme and, upon satisfactory completion of a probationary period, a company pension scheme.
