Julie Fyles BSc, PhD, CPA, EPA

Julie is a Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney. She specialises in all aspects of life sciences, including biotechnology, medical devices and medical therapeutics. Julie’s clients extend from University spin-offs to prestigious research organisations and international pharmaceutical companies.

Julie read Physiology and Zoology at Salford University, graduating in 1983 with a double first. She obtained a Ph.D. in Physiology from Kings College, London in 1986 and, shortly after that, was awarded a Royal Society Fellowship and a Junior Fellowship at Linacre College, Oxford where she taught and researched cell biology.

Julie joined the patent profession in 1988 and qualified in 1992. In the same year she was made a partner in the firm of William Jones where she was responsible for the development and management of a highly respected Life Science department. During 1996 & 1997 Julie was invited to be a visiting lecturer in the Department of Biotechnology, The University of Leeds. In 2002 she joined Wynne-Jones, Lainé & James to help with the management and growth of their Life Science Department.

Julie Fyles is currently not working in the firm due to a prolonged illness.

However, Julie has kindly agreed to discuss with us any issues on which she has specialist knowledge from her earlier work. .
