Patent Formalities Paralegal

Patent Formalities Paralegal

Wynne-Jones IP is a UK and European IP firm specialising in patents, trade marks, designs, IP strategy, IP licensing and enforcement, IP audits and IP renewals. We certainly know our stuff in IP rights, and we’ve been helping businesses to protect business assets for nearly 60 years.  Our portfolio spans an impressive mix of private individuals, multinationals, large technology-based companies, SMEs and Universities- locally, nationally, and internationally.

We are inviting an exceptional Patent Formalities Paralegal to assist with the formalities process of our IP portfolio and contribute to the development of new opportunities.

Who will be the successful candidate?  As a Formalities Paralegal, your role will include various tasks to support our Patent Attorneys in delivering formalities services to clients, and to assist our attorneys interaction with the various national and international patent offices, and our network of international associates, in the prosecution of patents throughout the world. Part of this role includes corresponding directly with clients, associates, and patent offices, either by phone, email, or other written communications. The Formalities team works closely with the Attorneys, the Renewals team, and PAs to deliver a complete service. The CIPA qualification would certainly be desirable but not essential.

Wynne-Jones operates an electronic filing, docketing, and records system. The Formalities team has primary responsibility for maintaining the files in this system, including creating and filing official documents and correspondence, managing paralegal tasks, managing deadlines and attorney tasks and diaries.

Wynne-Jones is regulated by the Intellectual Property Regulation Board (IPReg) and your work will also be subject to such regulation. Your work will also need to comply with GDPR and money laundering requirements. You will also need to maintain the confidentiality of the work we do for clients.

Wynne-Jones is continually developing its business and expanding and developing the services that Wynne-Jones offers its internal and external clients. Wynne-Jones encourages staff to make suggestions for process improvements.

We will make an ongoing commitment to your professional development to help you become an expert in your role, including internal and external training, and the opportunity to study for appropriate professional qualification, such as those provided by the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA).

We are reaching out to candidates who would like to benefit from a flexible, forward thinking, supportive and inclusive working environment.
