Ozgur

HI I'M OZGUR

Hello everyone. I’m Ozgur, a Trainee Patent Attorney and Mechanical/Electrical Engineer. After working in the technical field for several years, I realised there is much more I could do with my knowledge and experience. That path, finally, led me to Wynne-Jones and the Intellectual Property world. I will be sharing my experience as an engineer becoming a patent attorney from the very first steps. I have never thought of IP or Law as a career option purely because I didn’t have any exposure to it at any part of my studies or work experience directly.

However, once I stepped into it, I realised that it has always been a big and influential part of my career from the devices I have worked on (patents, design rights) to the material I have read or created (trade marks, copyright).n The best part of this profession, as far as I have experienced so far, is the variety of ideas and vastness of perspectives one can encounter. For me that is the biggest motivation: curiosity.

Why more women should pursue careers within STEM and embrace their inner STEM superhero

As soon as Jodie Whittaker jumped in her Tardis this week she changed gender role perceptions for a whole new generation of young women. The first female Doctor Who’s ground-breaking turn has not only served to challenge decades of attitudes towards traditionally male-dominated roles, but could even encourage a new wave of budding scientists to explore a career in science. STEM roles have traditionally experienced a gender divide, with more men than women pursuing a career across Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics industries. However, intellectual property firm Wynne- Jones IP said STEM offers “unparalleled” opportunities to young women looking for a rewarding and enriching career.)…
